Literacy Camps

August 10th and 17th from 9-4 (before and after care is an extra $55 for the week which starts at 8am and ends at 5pm).

Location: TBC @ Huntley Parish - St. James the Apostle, 3774 Carp Road, Carp, ON

Campers will learn about letters and sounds and the connection between the letters in the alphabet and the letters in words, which will lead into how a word’s construction (bases and affixes) binds meaning, spelling and sound. Learning will be interactive through teacher lead inquiry using Dr. Pete Bowers 4 Questions for Understanding a Spelling: 1) What is the sense and meaning of the word? 2) How is it constructed? 3) What related words can you find? and 4) How are the graphemes functioning in the word?

Campers will be introduced to how the English language works for their age group, paired with daily crafts, splash pad visits, movies, games and local field trips. We end the week with a pizza lunch and ice cream.
